in places where shanty towns settlements are found
desolate landscapes still nurture dreams
even on seemingly barren ground

sown naked lands
suddenly rich again

a fruitful harvest beyond conceivable means
a reality that transcends
even those imagined places in your dreams

inconceivable? you say “there is no such place”
but possibilities
only become reality
when they are first
born in the dreams that we chase

when i get through this storm
i’ll tell you about
my cloudiest days
but right now i gotta put my head down

and as i walk through the misty fog
of doubt and fear
i still am thankful that HE bought me here
because i know in this
there is a life lesson to be learned

there is grace to be earned

and the sad part is you don’t even know

for some time I retreated into the sublime

but time has a way of making itself felt

and i have come to a place that i know with which, has to be dealt

so i’ll deal the best way i can manage

fiction is really a cruel reality when you wake

yes this is a precarious position i find myself in

rhymes grow in orchards covered with
fertile verbs
blossoming adjectives
and nectar rich nouns
they should never be picked until ripened
in full bloom they will produce
an arrangement of the most exquisite bouquet
of sonnets, haiku’s, poems and prose
intricate and beautiful but also thorny like a rose.

i just missed the doggone train
tell me this isn’t happening again
not that i shouldn’t expect it anyway
i knew i shouldn’t have stopped for a cafe latte

but still i thought i could make it with ease
if i walked swiftly and caught a good breeze
i know i need to get to work on time
so why can’t i make the 6:49?

it really isn’t asking much i don’t think
to catch the train and have a frothy drink
now i’ll have to wait for the 7:38
and try to sneak in a few minutes late

hopefully it all works out for me
i’ll plan ahead tomorrow and catch the 5:43

Most don’t even notice
but sometimes in the quiet of night she reflects on her reality
and
remembers those things she put away long ago
and that remembrance in enough; most of the time
just to give credence to them gives them honor
and in a way keeps them alive
somewhere
and within that same moment she reflects on all she has
and all that have their dreams in her hands
and that seems like enough to feel whole about
for now….
but a dim flickering light still lives within and
she knows that there will be a time to shine brilliantly again..
someday
those distant dreams will be given light,
and that keeps her alive..
